Any guides to the basics of station building?

Trying to make a small station with storage out in space can anyone point me to the basics.

This doesn't work with the new station foundation from the tech tree. You push the button and a big green safe zone shows up and then... nothing happens. It has a 10 minute timer to 'establish the safe zone' and then there's nothing to build and I can't attach anything to the block.

Disable Easy Build Mode and then you can use station parts to build.

Yes if you are out of easy build mode you should be able to.

I still have issues with bolting and over all adding perma items to the station. I have a few factory halls that are activated but I dont think they do anything because there is a forcefield around them.

Were you able to connect ore boxes and power that way? I got benches to bolt and stay but its touchy
