Cannot find any other players when playing this game

I meet the problem that cannot find any other players (no other endos or ships in space, and player list of station area is empty) when playing this game, just like in a single-player mode. Other game features like mining, building ships are all normal.

A friend of mine I gifted the game to has encountered this too, we've yet to find a solution and have submitted a bug report in game using F1, recommend you do the same. If I find a solution I'll be sure to say

a friend of me had the same, it was like he was in a paralel server or something with no people, he cant see me and cant see any other. and there where other ships around the origin (both was on 25)
he solved it by closing the game, deleting the cache folder of starbase in %appdata%\Starbase
