Have objects you can place on base that features screens players can interact with. They can put posts up and message each other similar to the global chat and discord. Like an in-universe community hub
Possible ideas
-You could put up job postings
-ships for sale
-chalanges
-faction chat
-tips n tricks
-find your friends to meet up in-game
-find players to friend
Of course this may just not be effiecent but would be cool to have. Players could set up hubs like this for their cities stations, as a hub for players to meet and convene.
