Starbase Progress Notes: Week 36
Here we have the first weekly progress notes, starting from week 36.

We've divided these notes into categories, Design, Code and Art.
2.9.-6.9.

Design

Features
  • Starbase Alpha and DTU social features were tested
  • Tooltip popup time and mouse movement range adjusted
  • New player pushing physics
  • All asteroid mining halls configured, all terminals are now online and working
  • Cargo Lock Frame Controller design finished
  • Indestructible material stats configured
  • Economy configurations added and fixed in editor, economy is finally in the game
  • Station inventories, feature goals and process
  • Control windows and UI design for Clans/Teams/Guilds
  • Improvements on version history
Stations
  • VIS rebuild, module scene fixes and generator deck build
  • In-game tools for test mode, inventory in test mode should be limited certain tools
  • Starbase Spaceship Creator guide draft finished
  • New builds started for Empire and Kingdom outposts (new outposts include civilian buildings in addition to military hangars)
  • New designs for stacked lots
Spaceships
  • Adjustments and updates were made on multiple ships (i.e fuel infopanel max value)
  • Spaceship assembly guide was updated

Code

Gameplay
  • Support added for decal component recoloring to scene fixer
  • Thruster network improved
  • Mag boots - Model support added for align indicator
  • Player: Added debug visualization to player pushing/collision and prevented interaction when noclipping
  • Prevention of bolting ship blob entities modified containing thrusters onto another ship blob
  • Added warnings for negative or absurdly high material densities, and warnings for indestructible structural components without a connection to a permanently static component (when durability-scanned)
  • Durability Test Tool's handling of indestructible components improved
  • LocalSoundEnvManager's handling of AudioObjects reworked and their volumes in order to reduce audible snaps
  • TestAllStructures mode in the Durability Test Tool added
  • Settings-navigation improved
  • The asteroid distribution math improved
  • Support added to the hinge grip for an offset, to allow the hinge rods themselves to be grippable
  • Physics mesh resolution separated from the object placement resolution to allow for more easier performance & quality tweaking
User interface
  • Backpack scrollbar removed and set slot amount vertically to five
  • Quickbar properties now allowed to be toggled separately for large quickbar and small quickbar
  • Sold item set to disappear automatically from player's back
  • Header text updates when a topic is chosen from tree
Starbase Spaceship Creator
  • The blueprint server will store and supply all blueprint management related metadata
  • Economy system tests
  • Price server created
Renderer
  • Support added for changing target format on the fly

Art

Stations
  • Level art + LOD update for mega_station_slot_37152_ship_showroom_a, mega_station_slot_18576_upper_intersection_1_a and mega_station_slot_18576_metro_1
  • Voxel error fixing by adjusting the width from 1.1988cm to 1.8cm
  • Lods checked for station_modules_halls_medium, modules recolored to default color theme
  • Tweaks and recolouring on Research Hall level art modules
  • Decal placement and lights for level modules finished
  • Recolor of the empire shop finished
Other
  • Transponder device highpoly modeling, texturing, baking and extra normal details in Substance Painter
  • Substance designer texture experimentations
  • Frame device controller highpoly and lowpoly tested and coloured
  • Arclighter textures and paintjobs finished

Man, I'd be hype enough just to have the pretty pictures, the notes and videos are more practical (if somewhat random) information than I really expected out of weekly updates (too used to Bannerlord's filler updates, I guess, though they periodically had a great post). Plus, these are way easier to cite and link to when people ask questions than month old #starbase-faq posts, so big thanks from the Discord regulars.

Will these videos get added to the unlisted development footage playlist on youtube? I can understand if you don't want to have them fully public, but it'd be nice to have them in a centralized location.
