Starbase Progress Notes: Week 37
Here are are progress notes for the week 37.
9.9.-13.9.

Design

Features
  • CV issues fixed (number rounding, drag & drop fixes)
  • Mining Job issues fixed (ice asteroids removed from the spawn list, "missing SpacePartType"-errors)
  • Spawners tested, issues/bugs reported
  • Bugs in new economy mechanics tested, future features designed
  • Station inventories: detailed designs for player interaction and logic for how storage space is determined, UI mockups and interaction logic iteration
  • Resource junction: adjustments, setting up the components required on the junction
  • Teams options and visuals for Guilds reworked
  • Durability system updated
  • Issues with cable interaction (durability/eachother/bulidingtool)
Stations
  • VIS rebuild continues
  • Ship creator: Ship test build, progress documented
  • New outposts for Empire and Kingdom finished
  • Stacked lots design, walkways and support beams connecting lots to the walkways
  • Stacked lots can now be stacked on top of each other even with different rotations
Spaceships
  • Updates on spaceships (Fuel panel max value update, Durability change/update)
  • Issues found in ships durability calculations, where all the mass flow was not calculated (fixed)

Code

Gameplay
  • Devices with no power consumption fixed not getting their power level updated upon device network connection
  • Support added for disabling device slots temporarily
  • Devices not connecting to device networks after stopping grab fixed
  • Pipes&cables preventing fixing tool fixed
  • Tools not getting a deactivation event when they are deinitialized due to a despawned/dead player fixed
  • Hinge joints snapping if moved back and forth quickly at their max travel point being investigated
  • Scene fixer made to support changing search for any color property, change any color property, and support ModelComponents
  • Lot inventory: More station tests made, implement created for an early version of storage area despawner/spawner
  • Lot inventory: Server created and client side support for station inventory creation (and deletion for server)
  • Lot inventory: Support adder for adding items in station inventory
  • Player: Player rotation indicator Effect and Model separated
  • Player/Animation: FPSLogicComponent cleaned and capped moving speed animation parameter values
  • Various aspects of structural collisions fixed involving partially static structures
  • Durability logic problem fixed that allowed a frame to include beams attached only to damaged beams
  • indestructible elevator in current state tested.
  • Interaction Tool: interaction release handling fixed,a check added to enforce interaction range on continuous interactions, the bolt highlighting persisting fixed in cases where the bolt tool becomes active again without properly deactivating
  • Editor properties added and finalized for the terrain object placement system, almost there
  • Abstract balance data type objects written for the terrain object placement configuration, similar to how the heightmap settings are defined from a separate type that is linked into the manager
User interface
  • Items that are damaged are now saveable to server
  • Damaged items can be dragged in and out of inventory and damage stays and is synced to other players
  • Saviors use MenuCreator
  • Saviors can be draggable and resizable
  • Buttons and other stuff are now more easy to use and the code is a lot cleaner
  • Items dragged out of inventory not appearing to other players debugged
  • Tree buttons visualized
  • Company Screen being worked on
  • Feedback tool: Scrollbars implemented (wip), item info updated on item hover, Screen capture preview rendering successful, Tree clicking finished, Search functionality and tree item filtering implemented
Starbase Spaceship Creator
  • SSC and lot code rewritten that were affected by the blueprint system
  • Blueprint client code finished. Fixed an assert in ssc previews
  • Price server being worked on
Renderer
  • Metallic texture support added, removed unused normal map parameters
  • Ridge material support added
  • Shadow improvements
  • Renderesolutionscale added to logging/profiling and also modifying the view for it
  • Reloading of materials being worked on

Art

Stations
  • Level art for Mega Station updated
  • Level art + LOD update for Ship Showroom(s)
  • Mega_station_slot_18576_ship_repair_a_farlod finished
  • Modeling of the furniture being worked on
  • Exteriors of all the wanted modules for Empire outpost recolored
  • Empire shop recolored and polished
  • Metro slot's lights being worked on: configurations and placements tweaked
  • Art added for the waiting areas & chairs replaced
  • A farlod created for ship_repair_hall_small, UV mapping finished and baked
  • Farlod finished for mega_station_slot_18576_ship_repair_a
Guns
  • Revolver textures tweaked and finished
  • Pistol textures and paintjobs tweaked
  • Laser rifle and shotgun textures and paintjobs tweaked
  • Scifi-gun modeling and further designs being worked on
Other
  • Steam UI assets fixed as well as basic UI's
  • Twitch poster for SB created
  • Recoloring voxel modules, texture recolor and tint mask adjustments
  • Pictures to the LOD model tintmask instructions corrected (and added it to the Starbase LOD page)
  • Separate collapsible sections created for the tintmask
  • Remodeling for the rails (instead of using the same model as the beams)
  • Tintmasks made for the YOLOL chip and YOLOL memory chip (examples below)
  • Small tweaks to the align preview effect, also recorded a video of it
  • Gas containers: Had to make the hole of the utility connection shallower so that the base of the twist handle can be bolted in to it from a ok angle and distance
  • Laser designator: concepts of the laser designator and highpoly mode finished.
  • Resource junction: Bolting places added to the twist handle base design, highpoly mode finished.
  • UI colors: Menu items replaced that used non-palette, multiplied colors or colored images with id colors from starbases palette
  • Color map and tintmask finished for ship_repair_hall_small_farlod, farlod for mega_station_slot_18576_empire_ship_repair_a started

I have a feeling that's just an orb displaying texture/lighting effects. It looks like some sort of tessellation being sampled.
