  1. Not sharing ship blueprint rights

I think @PopeUrban outlined the pitfalls in this idea brilliantly throughout this thread. To comment on your latest point, If I've got to wait for you to be online to buy your BP, I'm just gonna buy a different BP or make my own, this sort of thing never works. Does anyone know more about how...
  2. Pets

Your ship is your pet Seriously though, just extra clutter that adds minimal, if any, gameplay benefits but would negatively impact everyone on the server. I'd rather have bigger/more ships. Maybe if they were only enabled in stations considering in space on ships you'd never see the pets anyhow.
  3. What feature would you like in the game that no one else may like?

Asteroid bound space worms....like in Star Wars but a little smaller and more dangerous. Perhaps it can leave it's hole in the asteroid and battle the player a close distance from it's home. It would float around like an eel (leviathans from Subnautica) and ram ships with it's head doing kinetic...
  4. Respawning, offline binding, cooperative play, and exploration

Couldn't agree with this more. I'm a gamer that has a full time job and a life outside of games and, well, I need to be able to turn the game off in a few seconds and leave sometimes. I really dislike games that require players to treat it like a job. We are paying to play, not the other way...
  5. Concerns about various starbase things.

I don't think they are completely the same thing though. It sounds like factions are huge organizations such as the Alliance or the Horde in WoW. A Company would be a guild within the Horde.
  6. Poll: Camera

I think they would add a lot of depth to game play options for players regardless of whether or not remote drones become a thing. but we always need to consider how players can and will abuse something. There is also a certain simplicity to NOT including them. At this time I'm leaning towards...
  7. Concerns about various starbase things.

The way I read it was, two factions at launch that are already determined Empire and Kingdom. You have to work missions for a faction and raise your standing even before you get access to join one of these existing factions. All players can form smaller companies that I"m assuming must decide to...
  8. Concerns about various starbase things.

Everything seems to revolve around a heavy PVP dynamic. PVP usually works best when players are in close proximity. You've got two warring factions, all players will work towards gaining favor with one or the other so essentially there are only two teams until they add player factions much...
  9. Ship Size limits?

I"m sure a single player could build/own a big ship, the question is if you ever take it out of the station for risk of it being destroyed, stolen or something in between. Personally, I'll likely stay small and cheap unless I group with a crew otherwise you're likely building that big ship for...
  10. Space Jelly, Thrusters, and Extreme evasion

Was this confirmed as a thing? I've seen no evidence of this. I don't remember seeing anywhere that turrets in Starbase are automated (they are all manned by players afaik). So seems like you either man a turret and lead the target or have forward firing weapons and pilot the ship to lead the...
  11. Using a carrier/flagship rather than a station.

The bigger your ships get the more problems I suspect there will be for the game to provide a smooth gaming experience. It's sort of the ever-present paradox of these types of games. The more people in one place with bigger ships, more debris, more projectiles just keeps rising until the game...
  12. Ship Size limits?

These ships are pretty small if you look at what is represented by most of Sci-Fi out there. The biggest ship shown above at 115m is smaller than the Corellian Corvette (150m) from the opening scene in Star Wars which fits inside the Imperial Star Destroyer Hangar. But believe me this is not a...
  13. Starbase is not Ark or Atlas

One of the things I liked about the proposed mechanics in Starbase is their attention to detail in things like ship building (wires, pipes and rivets) having to really think about ship design and destruction. Even the way cargo and logistics seems to work means things will be more difficult than...
