Post-Holiday Games.png

Hey folks! Now that the holidays are easing off, I thought it'd be a good time to reschedule the holiday games after the first event was postponed. We'll be holding onto the holiday theme for convenience sake, and we've rescheduled it for January 21st, at 20:00 UTC. As per the last time: This event will be held at Ghost Arma station, conveniently located just outside of Arma Station’s safezone. We'll be doing teleports directly to the blue team and red team spawns (see below), but you should set a back-up spawn point at Arma just in case! Mithrandalf will be hosting blue team, and dusty will be hosting red team.

These events will accommodate two teams: Red team and Blue team. Red team will wear the Red Brigand armor set, and the blue team will wear the Orderly armor set; both of these sets are available for purchase at the Kite Shop at Arma Station. We’ll also be hosting in-game groups and group calls (in the Starbase Discord's channels) for both teams so that you’ll be able to see your teammates’ transponders and talk with them, but joining these is entirely optional.

Each team will have two default insurance transfer points located around the frame of the station which only they are allowed to use, but there are four additional insurance transfer terminals inside of the VIS building as well.

An Important Note:
Endoskeletons drop their equipped inventory upon death and during insurance transfers. While cosmetic armor will transfer with you, any equipped weapons, ammunition, or other items will not. To facilitate this event, we'll have crafting benches installed at the B Spawn for both teams, which are located in the vertical tubes in the images above. You should take the time between rounds to craft extra weapons and ammo to sustain you for the entire fight, and then store these in your station storage so that you can quickly re-arm. Crafting weapons and ammo takes only a moment, and the PTU provides infinite materials. Consider it a weird form of respawn timer!

We also have some general rules, but they're nothing gratuitous:
  1. You may use any weapon in the 'Personal Weapons' category, and any tripod weapon in the 'Ship weapons' category.
  2. You may not utilize ships, pre-made blueprints, pre-made constructs, etc.
  3. You may not spawn at or spawn camp the opposite team's 'B' spawn point (eg: Sitting at the terminal with a shotgun at the ready)

We'll be playing a number of different gamemodes, and we anticipate this event lasting 1-2 hours. The rules of these gamemodes are quite simple!

Team Deathmatch:
  • Teams start at their respective default spawn points (that is, A and B for each team), but may use any of the spawn points inside of the VIS building afterwards at their own risk.
  • Rounds last for ten minutes, and the victor is determined by judgment call.

Stockpile:
  • Teams start at either the Docks or the Landing Pad spawn point. Neither team may use the other's spawn point.
  • Gift boxes of various colors are spawned around the map at random, and each color of box is worth a certain amount of points:
    • Red gifts: 5 points
    • Green gifts: 3 points
    • Purple gifts: 2 point
  • Each team must move these gift boxes to their team's Sleigh (marked by a transponder owned by either Mithrandalf or dusty ) in order to be counted towards their score.
    • If the Sleigh has been destroyed, its general location is an acceptable alternative.
  • Players may destroy gift boxes while they are en route, but once they have been dropped at the spawn point they are considered 'scored'.
  • A round will last for ten minutes, and the victor is determined by tallied points.

King of the Hill:
  • Teams start at either the Docks or the Landing Pad spawn point. Neither team may use the other's spawn point.
  • A random hill will be announced via the chat from the assortment of points (listed below). The hill will be marked by a transponder belonging to either Mithrandalf or dusty - since the objective is for both teams, the transponder may belong to either.
  • The first team to hold the point for the allotted time (approximately two minutes) will score a point, and the hill will move to a new location.
    • Note: We may also play with a static hill; that is, a hill that does not move. This type of hill will have a longer contest timer. We will announce whether the hill will be moving or static before the game begins.
  • Rounds last for ten minutes or three points, whichever comes first.
  • Please see this demonstration of how to use the capture point. You must push and hold the button until the count begins!

Capture the Flag:
  • Teams start at either the Docks or the Landing Pad spawn point. Neither team may use the other's spawn point.
  • A flag will be spawned at both locations which will contain a transponder owned by either Mithrandalf or dusty, depending on which team it belongs to.
  • Teams must protect their own flag while attempting to retrieve the enemy's flag and return it to their point.
  • Rounds last for ten minutes or three points, whichever comes first.

As a final note: These gamemodes are experimental, and may or may not work as smoothly as we would hope. We may tweak the details of each game mode during the event, but we'll do our best to make sure everyone is aware if we do. Further, client instability may still be a factor, and glitches and bugs should be expected. Please bring both your patience and whatever leftover holiday spirit you may have!
