Part of why many crowdfunded games never get finished is not because they are crowdfunded, it's because the crowdfunding puts the development cycle in the spotlight. Also the pressure of expectations from those who put up their money upfront makes development more complex than it has to be in many cases and is a frequent cause for delays.
