We have a patch planned for later this week which will include some big changes and features. The patch will include, for example, gravity, an update to flying, as well as the long awaited tutorial.
The implementation of gravity mainly affects moons and ships. Players will likely have difficulties flying on or to a moon, meaning that their ships may crash to the surface and break. Additionally, there will be difficulties flying out from a moon after gravity has been implemented, so ships may get stranded on a moon. Ships may also behave a bit strangely on a moon's surface, as they may end up 'bouncing' on the surface, clipping through the moon or even being swallowed by the moon. We are sorry for the inconveniences this may cause! The gravity will not affect player endos yet, but the implementation of that is coming in the future too.
Especially bigger ships seem to behave strangely on moons after gravity, so flying them to a moon will be at your own risk. We recommend using smaller ships to venture into the unknowns of a moon's surface after this patch. There is a surprise waiting on the closest moon for brave explorers (other than the imminent crash landing).
In addition to gravity, this patch includes a change to how flying works. After this patch, ships will retain more of their momentum, resulting in more drifting. The amount depends on the mass of the ship. As you check out how this change feels, please take your time to test this change out comprehensively before sending feedback. We are especially interested to see how this will affect things like fighter combat. This may get adjusted based on the feedback received.
There is also a fix related to the Auction House stacks coming in this patch which may break some things in the inventory as it affects all item transfers. We are sorry for the inconvenience!
Finally, the tutorial is making its way to the game. It will be available for everyone, whether you are a Closed Alpha veteran or a newbie. At the end of the tutorial, each player will receive a ship, the Laborer.
The tutorial includes the first version of the repair job, which is only available through the tutorial for now. In the tutorial, it is only a one-time repair job. However, when the repair job gets implemented outside of the tutorial in the future, it will be possible to do the job continuously.
As these features and changes are added in for player testing, we are expecting to find a lot of bugs and get a lot of feedback in the process. These will provide more invaluable information to develop the game further. We thank you for all your testing and feedback!
Please be patient with us and wait for the patch notes and the patch for more information of its contents.
Additional Warning: There are safe zone changes coming to the closest moon in this patch, which makes it not 'safe' for ships! All ships that are on the moon before the patch, even the ones inside the safe zone, may likely get destroyed after the patch as a result.
There is also going to be an automatic 'kill zone' below all moon surfaces that may be already coming in the next patch. This will affect ship and endos alike. It means that if a player or a ship gets dragged under the surface of a moon due to gravity or collision bugs, they will end up destroyed.
We are sorry for the inconveniences these may cause! Please prepare accordingly if you can.
Closed Alpha disclaimer:
We have entered a development phase where significant changes are coming in every major patch. These may have a big impact on your gameplay and we are sorry about the inconvenience and possible frustration! Through these updates, the game is starting to come together and pieces are falling into place. We hope that this is also visible to all our players and everybody who follows the game. Regardless we will continue to try and notify our Closed Alpha players of the biggest incoming changes the best we can.
