Starbase Progress Notes: Week 7 (2022) - Siege insight

It could be as simple as back and forth proposals between the 2 teams. The attacking team decides on a 72hr time slot to attack and sends the proposal to the defenders. Then defenders pick a preferred 24hour time slot from the 72hr and send that proposal back to the attackers. Then attackers...

Progenitor Mine, a Daily PvP Territory Control Objective

It's not even a real choice between Station Sieges and this Progenitor Mine. Since you learn to mine by the end of the tutorial, it means a much larger participation rate compared to having to build a station (or join a clan w/ one) to begin with, I think the devs underestimate how many casuals...

    Sensors

Rule of a thumb: If a sensor or device accomplishes not more than another endo (player) would in its place, then it's good in my book. However, the endos themselves are quite barebones compared to your average scifi humans represented in fiction. We've got a built-in flashlight eventually, sure...

Allow real money trade in the TOS

EVE Online is a subscription based MMO where you can opt to pay with in-game currency. As for your "legit example", nothing is stopping you from hiring a person to play either your account or for the benefit of your account. Perhaps it's against the EULA but almost impossible to enforce...

Starbase Progress Notes: Week 6 (2021)

More switches and controllers yes please. Looking forward to turn dials for visitor friendly adjustable interior lighting.

Starbase Progress Notes: Week 35 (2020)

Where and when would you use the mining saw? It appears to smash holes like a sledgehammer and there's already something similar in SB, right? I mean a pickaxe may be slower but it still gets the job done without draining batteries. The laser cutters *appears* more precise at first, but unless...

What will your face look like, when the game releases?

It would've been nice to check out CA first...

Official Forums vs Reddit vs Discord

Reddit for quality discussion. Official forums for quantity and making longer posts (like guides) with attached media. Discord for asking the devs stuff directly and of course memeing. Try to see different forums complementing each other rather than competing.

Are we gonna be able to have harpoons?

Not that I agree but this is what suggestion topics usually boil down to. We need a statement from Frozenbyte about the things that will definitely *never* exist in SB and then patiently work up from there. It will be a long journey up ahead.

Starbase Progress Notes: Week 18 (2020)

Is the buzzsaw meant for salvage operations? Like, you get any materials back when you destroy items with it? How does it tell a difference between players' owned ships inside safe zones? I appreciated the longer videos now <3

Starbase Progress Notes: Week 15 (2020)

What are are these unallowed objects exactly? Something imported from a 3rd party perhaps? Players can still share customized in-game assets with each other, right? Why shouldn't players be able to intervene? Or maybe this only concerns safe areas.

    Can the engine be tilted?

No thrust vectoring? No VTOL (without dedicated landing thrusters) or ship acrobatics then. *sad trumpet* :(

Starbase Progress Notes: Week 13 (2020)

Where is the blue-ish hue coming from when you're inside spaceships? In the last video at 0:40, when you open the hatch the incoming light that shines in has a very neutral tone like our Sun does. Can we have an option for uncolorized and more realistic shadows in-game? Suppose it's not a big...

Starbase Progress Notes: Week 9 (2020)

Here's what I thought of first. Please don't make human acrobatics in robot disguise y'know?

    Starbase Progress Notes: Week 5

That last video was the best. Knowing I can pick up a yolol chip that has secret coordinates in it for example and have auto-pilot take me there. At least that would be one common use. More time to pimp-up the ship lighting because Man! It looks so bleak and dark inside your ship...

Respawning, offline binding, cooperative play, and exploration

There's another perspective to it. Logging off when outside of safe zones to hide yourself from (anticipated) harm can just as well be exploited to nullify combat. Attaching a log-out timer is a crude solution in other MMOs I know of. Having persistent in-game ships, endos and other objects...

    Poll: Camera

No objections, provided there won't be a significant performance hit in a typical situation. My RL car has a rear-view camera for parking, the best innovation since sliced bread! Now imagine how many blindsides a medium-sized space ship has, then having to maneuver it in 1st person through...
