The politics will be interesting, and actually have some substance once the game opens up and we actually will have ships, resources and territory, and members to play. Until then, the politics of the current non-existent game, is more politics for politics sake.

Its just a general list, to form some type of accurate continuity in ship naming. Because some Sci-Fi series really mix up names pretty seriously, like Star Wars, where a "Star Destroyer" is called a Destroyer, but is much more like a Battleship.
