3rd person camera drone

Have a deplorable camera drone that follows the ship, providing 3rd person view.
To balance it in combat, have the drone be very fragile and not very maneuverable, Thus it will be quickly destroyed in large ships and can't keep up with fast small ships.
At least let the civilian ships have 3rd person.

Disagree.

The only civilian ship in game are all the ships within safezone. Everything outside is military.
While allowing 3rd person view in safe zone wouldn't hurt balance, it would create bigger barrier to cross for new players, thus soft-locking a lot of game content.
So I wouldn't add it even there, to keep the game experience consistent.

Also we have almost all the tools to allow you building such drone.
Small ball in which you can sit and control the main ship, held in place by tractor beam.
Lauri said they'll explore the possibility of using resource bridge to transfer control signal. That's the last piece of the puzzle we're missing.

Perhaps a better way is to use a long pole to build your cockpit in the upper direction behind the spaceship.

Maybe use a hinge or rails to retract the cockpit when fighting
