Are fighters and boarding "ships" going to be the "meta" of the game?

Due to lack of any security modules in the game, I am afraid that ships even the size of a corvette may be impractical. Since all you really need to defeat a ship of that size is not a larger ship, but actually, just attaching a pod to a ram and rocket. And using that "assault pod" as a battering ram to get inside the ship, kill the crew member(s), and decide on the fate of the vessel (scrap, use it, etc). Heck, you don't even need to use a pod. You can jump out of a fighter and use it as missile to punch a hole through a larger ship and get in that way. it would suck if large ships couldn't be practical in space warfare. since, you know, they are kind of essential to it.

which is why its important that (hopefully) the devs add AI controlled defenses. such as sentry turrets that can be put on floors, walls, and roofs of a ship. or, the devs could add traps that don't include strapping armed missiles to your ship (Tesla stuff that can short endo's or lasers that can be triggered like in spy/heist movies). Not only would they make large ships be practical in space warfare, it would give them in an edge in some ways.

When it comes to fighter combat, you can still survive even if your ship is gone. And can even still put up a fight by trying to "grapple" onto enemy fighters and shooting at their glass cockpit. However things could be different for larger ships. Say, a small cruiser engaged a small company of fighters, and "won". However, some of the pilots of those fighters survived the fight and boarded the cruiser. Now, without the previously mentioned security, the crew of the cruiser would probably have hard fight ahead of them. But with that security the crew would have a very good chance of winning. Not only do they know the layout of the ship, they know where the defenses are. and can get in a position where they have not only the guns in their hands, but the support of sentry's and traps.

You may try, and you may succeed... For a time, but im confident designs would adapt to such tactics easily. And the ships crew would be just as capable as the boarding party, probably more so because they know their ships layout better.

Are physical lockouts not possible? Devices that swing into place, preventing a door from opening?

More gizmos the better, but they must be considered carefully to prevent missuse.

Dont forget also, the game isnt finished... We dont know what hasnt been finished yet:LOL:

I mean it also relies on engine speed vs endo jet pack speed because if a corvette has just defeated a wave of fighters then why would it stick around or go slow enough to be boarded. But in terms of breaching pods a ship's anti fighter weaponry should be able to shoot it down. Also if a larger ship deploys breaching pods then they would be losing personal on a gamble that even if they succeeded in the middle of a battle a large ship would require a large crew so what could a small boarding party do with it. If the ship is destroyed in self destruct then the boarding team has lost the resources of the breaching pod(s) as well as their boarding party so you would lose more personnel and resources than necessary when you could use a few fighters or some heavy weaponry on a large ship with the same amount of people to take out the same amount if not more ships.
