There is rss support. It seems to work in quite a few places on the site maybe even in the mod panel. This be more up to you to find a program / browser addons to support this. Xenforo does not support or have audio alerts or at least not before. Maybe via Plugins but still think this could be easily solved with learning about rss and using a proper program for your own needs.

With quick google action I found one reference to a XenForo add on but it looks like it is no longer available. So not sure if there is anything we can do from our side. But I can ask my coworker to double check this.
