Very simple idea.
Since there will be that gas process facitily where you can seperate the materials, how about you could make your own metal alloys for plating (or even beaming). I mean for the players to freely decide what percentage of what metals to mix together. I dont need to tell the awesome depth it would give in armor engineering.
