FCU and MFC issues?

Is anyone else having issues getting these to link up and share a number? I have built two ships, and now a test circuit board, and in all instances I cannot get these to communicate.
Are there any subtle criteria I may be missing? Anyone else having such an issue?

I tried building my own ship yesterday, couldn't get it to move either. I wonder if these have to be connected in sequence, or if that doesn't matter? Was thinking about why it wouldn't fly, and perhaps I forgot to add cable to the propellant tank, dunno if that's needed.

in editor build, check the box for "automatic naming. build your ship up to a limit of 50 thruster and it should work. rename and configure after testing and testing each naming change will help you understand the links between elements
