We are getting closer to the implementation of a major economical shift in the game. Thus, we wanted to give you a brief overview of what's coming as we are moving closer to the final version of the economy.
Auction House and Materials
When the Auction House is getting patched into the game, it represents the first steps that we are taking into a material-based economy. Ship prices will be changing to be mainly based on resources and the Ship Designer will require raw materials in the form of ores to build the designed ship. These materials can be bought from the Auction House, where players can list their ores to be sold at a price they determine.
Economy
This change will start shifting the game's economy to one bound by supply and demand. The amount of materials mined and sold, as well as which materials are getting used on ships, will each have an impact. Therefore, resource management will be a key element in your financial progression in Starbase, as we shift to a more player-influenced economy.
Credits are still relevant, as the Ship Designer will require some credits when buying a designed ship in the form of a manufacturing fee, for building the ship for you. The Ship Shops will still be using credit prices for the ships for now, but the same material-based buying system is planned for those as well.
This is a big change and we expect to get a lot of feedback and find new bugs in the process, which will help develop the game even further. We hope you're as excited as we are now that these big gameplay features are starting to make their way in and the game is starting to take its final form. This is just the beginning!
