Is boarding ships a valid strategy, or just a bad idea? And if it is successful, is it worth designing against it?

ATM combat ships are generally very small and fast. So almost impossible to board, until they're crippled.
There is no piracy (which requires causing as little damage to the ship as possible), because it's too hard to find viable victim.
There is no ship-based respawn, so any infantry combat is very risky for attackers.

That together gives an answer: atm not valid. In the future probably valid.

I counted heavy fighters in small ships. Mostly because they fly like jet fighters. But also because they tend to stay under 20m long.

There are also those huge "fighters" that only house one pilot and have no internals, just engines, guns, and armor. 😅
So is it just one person operating all of those guns as well as flying? How does that work?
