yeah having to redownload the game every time you want to test something on the PTU is a bit annoying. I would rather install a dedicated PTU Client too.

its not really that big of a deal once per few days to download a small update imo.

Steam only gives you the ability to either have the Live or PTU installed so yeah, you have to redownload the game every time you switch

try backing the game up before switch, im not sure how it works with version switches but its worth a shot if you want to save on the download.
"Steam" -> "Backup and Restore Games" -> "Backup currently installed programs" -> "StarBase" -> pick a location
