Spaceship Designer with unfindable Durability error and empty Blueprint tab

So hopefully I'm missing something basic here. My problem is opening the universal tool and looking at the blueprint tab to diagnose a durability error in Spaceship Designer, there is no information, completely blank (missing the 3 ui buttons as well). How do I find the durability erro with 0 visual feedback on where the issue actually is located? Somewhat stumped, second attempt to make a ship and can't figure out what is broken or why.

Aye, you've discovered that the universal tool's durability function doesn't work in the test environment. Which is both a bit sad and disappointing. Not sure why they've made that decision, or perhaps it's a bug...

But you ought to be able to diagnose the issue from within the durability tool of the designer. It should highlight incorrectly-fixed beams, and show you low WC Parts. Combined with showing any detached parts using the visualisation tools "Centre of mass", that usually lets you see what's wrong.
