Station Foundation: How to Get Started

Station building has begun! Building starts from a Station Foundation Unit that can be built using a specific blueprint projector device: Station Foundation Blueprint Projector. It can be bought in the Constructs store of the Marketplace and can be placed into space to the location you choose for your station. After you activate it, it will spawn a blueprint of the Foundation Unit module and essentially 'creates' the station, creating a station storage in the process. Note that while player-made stations will have safe zones, they are not in effect until the Station Foundation Unit is finished. Station Foundation Unit will also need to be finished in order to access the Station Designer.

There are some areas where building is not permitted and the Blueprint Projector will not activate:
  • in a 50 km radius from Origin station
  • towards Eos from Origin station
  • between the Fast Travel Gates
  • around the Moon's Travel Gate in a 50 km radius
  • in a 100 km radius from the surface of the Moon
Station parts are found in the Frame store area of the Marketplace. They can be used to automated building the station blueprint if you have them in your inventory or storage, or they can be manually placed and welded onto the blueprint. Automated building is on by default. It will take the suitable parts from your inventory or station storage when you are close to a buildable blueprint. This can be turned off in the Stations menu-tab, under Building.

Alternatively, you can use ore and the Building Tool. Station parts use Valkite, Ajatite, Bastium, Tengium, Arkanium, Karnite, Haderite. Valkite is needed the most, along with Ajatite, to be used station support structures, for example. Bastium is used in some decorative parts, and Ajatite and Tengium are use in all glass pieces. Lights are a feature which requires small amounts of the rarer resources, meaning Arkanium, Karnite and Haderite. Station Foundation unit mainly has support structures that use Valkite, as well as windows, lights, and a terminal. The terminal inside the building requires a variety of materials, namely everything mentioned except Haderite.

The parts required by the Station Foundation Unit are all available in the Marketplace Frame store terminal for station parts, except Decorative Column D. Decorative Column D can currently be found in the Marketplace store for ship parts (terminals in the green Luxury Items area) or built by using the Building tool by using about 115kv of Valkite.

To help your building get started, here's a list of the Station Foundation Unit's parts:

Known issue warning to other station builders: Once you have used the station designer to add lot/landing zones to station and started to fill them do not edit the station design again at this point, as it will covert the previously placed/filled parts of those zones into weird blobs of unidentifiable matter that cannot be removed. Hopefully this bug will be fixed before too long...

I'll update this post when this is resolved.

I've passed this on to QA, thank you for the information!

Well that's nice and all but anything beyond the foundation isn't really feasible..
rubbish. several factions both large and small are making great progress on their stations, the only thing holding it back right now is lack of multiplayer building

Take okim for example, he delivers 500 parts a day and it's going to take him like 2 months considering he does that every day.
Of course he could do that with more people but right now there are not the people and not the motivation, and even that is just for the smallest parts there is.
Sure say rubbish and live in lala land but I am giving feedback.

With Small Printers (A lot of them), building the station with a steady supply of ores and fuel rods can take up to 1-2 weeks per Module tbh.

Also thx to Aura for the help with the "few" station related issues Epic Corp had :D

Building has sped up a lot since the printers. You can literally just spam em down and boom, just supply it and you're good
