The simple truth is, without attachment plates, ship design becomes limited to pre-determined shapes only. Which building outside that limitation is what make starbase appealing over other space building games. Instead of unique ships, like now, we will only see slight variations of the same ship and shapes. This basically turns starbase into a more inferior and limited space engineers and empyrion.
Really if FB wants to remove attachment plates without spending effort to balance them.
Then provide us:
-less strict beam/plate model collision. so these objects can be placed inside each other to a much greater degree
-improved welding with additional angles or welds that can be placed like "bolts"
-fully adjustable 3d objects. able to adjust the length, bend, and overall size of beams and plates.
Do you really want to take away more creativity just before ea? Many changes to the game in ca have already reduced and limited creativity. This one just happens to be more obvious. Yet FB seems to not realize how significant of a negative impact against fun and gameplay this is somehow... Just call it a build nerf like it is.
