I want to create a station building swarm... A bunch of separate small drones that take orders from a mothership. They use a local version of ISAN and build tool sequences programmed in by YOLOL so that I can fly up, choose a station part, choose a position... and wait for my beauties to finish it for me.

I wouldn't sell my design, I would instead contract out my building expertise, charging higher rates but getting stations built faster than anyone else. Sure, you could take your entire faction a few days to hand-spray your new base. Or just give me 100 million credits and I'll have it done in two hours.

that would be a complex but great idea if you manage to execute this right your well on your way to be the first starbase trillionare

the only small inconvenience is other forms of payment e.g collective chips, yo would have to watch the exchange rate between the chips and credits to make sure collective isn’t underpaying you otherwise good luck

My goal, with my friends, is the most effective company in the development of new technical means for ships. And bringing them to the general market for all interested parties or only those factions :)

Be aware that you probably won't be able to, unless you dramatically scale them down. The voxel limits are unlikely to ever be high enough for ships of that size.

Right now our ships are limited in size severely. A large ship is about 20m long. We can't re-create any ship in this entire image. In this video, just about every ship past the 1m30s mark is too big to fit in our current voxel limit.

The voxel limit is expected to go up... but it's not going to go up the 100x to 1000000x needed to reach most of the ships you're thinking of. We'll be lucky if it goes up a full 10x to hit ships like 2m to 2:15m into the video. Remember that twice the length means eight times the volume.

Haven't been able to play but I'm curious if there are pirates and faction or station police, cause the idea of being able to run from the police cause you were caught smuggling/selling stolen faction goods sounds interesting if not fun to me.

There are pirating factions, but there is no NPC Police. Maybe there is a police faction but I dont know as of right now. Though if u steal shit i am most certain, that somebody will eventually hunt after you

Not to invoke the "AdVeRtIzMenT Police," but one of the things that FOX will be doing is maintaining a "Most Wanted" list. If someone stirs up enough trouble, they are likely to end up there for all to see (and to collect rewards on). So far the list's empty, but that's likely just due to the limited numbers of current faction and game members.

My main goal is to create and maintain a recognisable and healthy company.
Next to that, is to get my ships most reliable in the community and commonly used by people.

I'm looking to build replica's of Sci-Fi ships we've read about but never seen.

In addition to that i'm hoping hinges will be a thing so that Battletech/Gundams or Go-Bots might get a renaissance in Starbase. I'm really just looking to explore the limits of what we can do. Particuarly intresested in multi component ships like in Ulysese 31 and Thunderbirds 2086.

I sadly have to tell you, that that is probably really really not worth and not usefull in combat

Well, that depends if the devs keep the same ship limits until release, and since there are plans to expand the ship build limits, notably the pipe and size limits, I feel like large crew ships might become viable in the near future.
With the addition of the new chunky thrusters as well as the absurd power requirements of some new devices, I suspect we might be getting some new large ship parts soon, like larger reactors or weapons.

Seeing larger ships becoming more viable in pvp I think would be amazing. Hopefully the plasma thruster will help out with this along with the different armor types when we get the chance.

I still think that lonely large battleships gonna be nothing more than bulletsponges, ever asked yourself, why in WW2 Bombers flew in formation with fighter escorts (Edit: They still got torn to shreds even while flying in formation and even with fighter escort)? Thats right alone they got torn to shreds, and i believe nothing else will be the case in Starbase. It's not that I dont wanna see these type of ships, its more of: They can exist, but they are basically worthless in anything but a supportive role like carriers. Another example of this: The core of the modern sea warfare are Carriers. Why? Because as good as you can protect yourself, there is probably going to be a fighter who can kill your entire ship with basically one missile

While I don't think large ships will be very effective in large scale combat encounters, I do believe it would be possible to create a mobile base of sorts for patrolling the belt.

But on combat, a sufficiently sized crew can man multiple gun turrets in case of emergency, and since larger ships can boast heavier plating, especially now with the new plasma thrusters, it really comes down to if the aim of the gunners is sufficient enough to snipe the meta heavy fighters they are up against. The only real threats I can see large, mobile base-type ships facing are stealth fighters equipped with maneuver thrusters only, designed to snipe with railguns, similar to some ships currently seen in the alpha.

Back onto my main point, mobile base ships could be a viable option, especially with how dense and large the belt is now. If it becomes possible to manufacture all the resources required to run ships, such as propellant and fuel rods, onboard a moving ship, it will open up the playstyle of the belt scavenger, cruising around the outer rim in order to maintain long flight.
If ships like this remain exclusively in the outer rim of the belt, they could sustain themselves without meeting much force, as fighter squadrons would be incapable of spending large amounts of time searching for a deep miner. Unless of course, they make a similar ship of their own into a carrier-type ship to haul their fighters around, which of course means this type of ship will have an even larger presence in the meta of the game.

To cap off, I do not think large battleships will be very useful for large-scale conflict, but for a more roaming playstyle, or as a carrier for fighter squadrons, they could become pivotal in the dynamics of the game.
