RFID would be perfect here.
What if you could buy an
RFID module from the shop. Or craft it. Or however else way you get modules.
You could have multiple of these modules. Maybe up to like... 4? I dunno. Not even sure how the upgrade system would work.
Anyway, you'd then be able to freely set the device name, and the device value in the module. One module acts as one device.
And the info is saved in the module itself. Which could then be traded, stolen, or salvaged off your body.
As for the ship side, you'll get a few
RFID reader options.
Such as
RFID laser scanner. Acts like a range detector, but much shorter laser distance.
And different color for the laser, which should be visible. Just like the range detector. And it reads your
RFID chips when you're in the laser.
- RFID pressure plate. Reads your RFID chips when stepped on.
- RFID area scanner. Simply scans all of the RFID values within the given area.
- RFID seat-scanner. Could be bolted to any chair, and it reads the value when an Exoskeleton in sitting in the chair.
- RFID hand scanner. Well, kind of like a button, with a scanner. When you press it, acts like a normal button. But with your RFID devices.
The challenges and possibilities would add...
- Security systems
- Automatic door/light systems
- Automatic friend/foe recognition
- Ship hierarchy system
- ... more
An example
security system could be that
Player A, adds their
RFID chip, and sets the device name to
'pass', and the value to
'dfdsgdssdfdsfes'.
(Random gibberish, or pass code if you prefer.)
And add a
YOLOL ship, which checks for the same random gibberish, before it's allowed to execute.
And now, let's say
Player B wants to get in. However,
Player A has not shared their random gibberish value.
Which leaves
Player B with four options:
- Diplomatic. Ask Player A for the pass code.
- Violence. Kill Player A as steal the module with the pass code. And either copy it themselves or their own module, or physically bring the module closer. Or add the module to themselves.
- Stealth. Find the YOLOL chip, and look up the pass code, or change it.
- Brute force. Try and guess the pass code with your own RFID module.
