FYI: YOLOL chips in chip sockets can be read by other players even in the safezone.
The "lock" really just seems to be a "screensaver" so that rendering doesn't take too many resources (rendering lots of different changing text can be expensive).
Someone posted a suggestion I liked: Don't ban them, add features so they aren't required, like ad apace in the origin stations or equivalent things.
But such features would obviously be up for discussion in the distant future, until then, billboards are acceptable if used within a reasonable...
Hi,
as anyone knows, the way the research system is implemented results in the following:
If you are away from the origin stations, for example farming around your own station anxiously awaiting the station bug fixes, and still want to progress in the crafting tree, you have to delete a few...
Does one of you have a bad connection? We had the case were the ship got hosted by someone else in the group, after which the owner couldn't see it anymore. The blocky look could be because the ship changed host.
A problem with a distant moon would be that you couldn't jump back quickly to join some "PvE" action. I hope some global quicktravel will sometime replace the range-limited insurance transfers, but until then such a planet would just split an already small community.
I'm not in favor of a...
Is this intended for PTU server only? Because on the live server it was really nice to see a derelict ship even days after their destruction. They looked nice, served as impressive warning from pirates and asteroids and could even be used as waypoints - not to mention that they were slowly...
Apart from the point that development doesn't really work that way - it's split between different people each fixing bugs in their part of the software - I disagree.
Exploits can in the worst case produce things like untraceable hyperinflation, massive destruction of in game property or worse...
I'd like to add that there is a discord channel #starbase-questions where you generally get info about basic questions from other players within a few minutes.
Seems like camping would be fair game, requiring player interaction and combat to resolve it. And do you really want to camp a small station 24/7?
Edit:
I'm more surprised of the warzone being that large (>200km), was expecting smaller numbers. Will we be unable to place station closer that...
First: Great post, thank you LauriFB.
Second:
Camping with capital ships seems to result in the question whether safezones do expand depending on the expansion of the station itself (we want to build megastations, after all). That would of course result in the need to integrate non-owned...
From Space Engineers I know that the physics of such rovers can behave ... interesting. It's much more sensitive to errors and glitches than flight physics. I'd put such a suggestion at development times of over a year to implement, design phase excluded.
I absolutely agree that it would be a...
As a software dev: Even if things sound easy to implement, they often are surprisingly hard. And the posted suggestion doesn't even sound that easy to me.
To add to this:
- Add some kind of visualization so it is easier to grasp whether cables/pipes are actually connected to ducts - and where they got disconnected from them due to dmg.
In general, ship building is great in starbase, but it needs QOL improvements in implementation and design - of...
