THE space combat solution: radiation based "auto turrets" This thread is obsolete and to be ignored.

Btw another thing. WARINGIN! RANT! I know that im not everyone here so i can only say how i percive this but... This sounds all like sacasm to me: "Ya... this isn't insulting at all..." "know that i have no hard feelings. :)" (thanks to that smily) (I started ranting here so this is mostly no...

THE space combat solution: radiation based "auto turrets" This thread is obsolete and to be ignored.

A personal thought of mine is: Its not such a bad idea. But it just wouldnt work (the way you explain it). Too little information and definition. @Aha You still havent answered my question btw. Who do you want to empower? Afaik not the fighters, neither the big ships against fighters, but big...

    Space combat is primitive?

@Aha So... how are you not taking away skill of gunners if you no longer need gunners? you only need 1 person in a capital size ship with a shit ton of autoturrets and just a fighter swarm around that capital ship to defend against other fighters... which in fact increases the amount of gunners...

THE space combat solution: radiation based "auto turrets" This thread is obsolete and to be ignored.

@Aha Now im pretty sure that you contradicted yourself a bit but... Lets start at some point, and that point will be yolol. Yolol is a language that can be used to make anything do most things. You use it to get the output of sensors, give turntables and the mounted guns their inputs, calculates...

THE space combat solution: radiation based "auto turrets" This thread is obsolete and to be ignored.

I dont really see who you want to help fight who. Right now fighters dominate the market. (Btw i dont have the game yet so tell me if i say something wrong) Im pretty sure that that is the case because we dont have a good way to protect us from the fighters. There is no flack, autolocked...

Guns overhaul. Custom part, attachments and how to balance combat system

Add a pickaxe head to your Gun. You are mining and some pirates attack you? Boom, shoot them in their legs, then pickaxe their head so you can put them on your ship as a trophy!

    Space combat is primitive?

Sadly (as far as i know) all thrusters will also create radiation for some reason (tho this information is quite old and as such could very well have changed), so your idea is really good but might not work.

    Space combat is primitive?

Yes, This is the only reason we need. What a genius!

Why wouldn't cap ships just mount thousands of torpedoes?

Havent we seen that explosives have quite a big range and can explode other explosives? wouldnt all of the torpedos explode like dominos if only one is hit? and if you space them out you would have only 10-20% of the front of the hangar used for torpedos. While you could use all of the space and...

All-encompassing armored ground warfare: A suggestion

I belive that you could make tanks indeed much more armored, since there would be very few parts that have to be directly connected to the reactor or are easy to explode. No such things like thrusters that can disable movement if just hit once. Im all in for ground combat to be a thing, just...

    Space combat is primitive?

I love how we fully went of theme, since we more or less already said everything we needed to say. Only the future can tell us if combat will remain "primitive" or if they will add different "classes" that would actually be useful. Next question i have... Is it cheaper to have 3 fighters or 1...

    The downfall of Starbase

Im not sure but couldnt the radiation sensors used for that? or do i remember their range wrong? or do they only see the radiation of active thrusters?

This Game is Missing Something Crucial

While i havent read most of the replies here i do have to say... WTF? Why cant a sandbox mmorpg exist? Dont you see how popular mmos are? and sandboxes? the rpg element in this game is almost not there at all. Dont we love Minecraft becourse we can basicly do anything we want? Dont we then go to...

    The downfall of Starbase

Now if i didnt get this wrong since i hear this last year but... Dont the devs want to add new planets? A whole solarsystem? And im pretty sure that wont take 5 years after the Launch or EA. We defenetly have enought materials, and with the gases it wont even be finite. Also didnt the Devs also...

    Space combat is primitive?

@Neva This is the same as playing in a FPS. you can get 1 shot with any gun but 95% of the people arent skilled enought in these "Aim and shoot" games to do so. Even a 5v1 can sometimes go in favor of that one person if he uses 5 shots to kill 5 people while they need 9 shots to kill a single...

    Space combat is primitive?

While i agree that this post is quite important i dont get how you might have missed some stuff. First of all, combat is placed pretty far down the line in terms of priority. We havent had any real combat other than the events the devs did as they want to focus on other things at the moment. The...

    Console customization?

Also... if you want to have that many functions its defenetly bigger than a one man fighter. Think of all the code you would need, all the space you would need and most of the features you want a button for dont need to be triggerd from a chair. The whole appeal about SB is that you basicly have...

    Passive/Unpowered Docking (Carrier Ships)

would be cool if it works... we could make quite a few useful designs with this consept.

They cant for all we have seen. they need to be placed manually on the rails and cant be removed automaticly

Do stored materials take up physical space on stations?

I would imagine a system similar to this: You have some space (like some sort of hangar or other space that can be closed of) and the materials would be physicly stored in these storage space. When you would close said SS the models of the recources would unload and with that there would be no...
