I've been a moderator for aaaages now on discord, but now I'm helping moderation in the reddit and official forums. Was busy for a while though so was fairly inactive for a few weeks, now I'm back.

That would cut out smaller factions from being able to defend themselves sadly.

I do believe that is the case too, I've not seen much mention of completely automated systems, most have to be made by the players themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I d I do remember that plating strength was reduced significantly in the testing videos so the time to kill in them is not representative of the final game.
