what was covered today was the need of sheilds being directinal and with strengthing capabilities even when sheilds are up you are unable to fire and when down able to fire, using large sheild genarators so only suitable for large ships. also making wepons scaled to the ship so on large ship the rail gun will be large and doing more damage while on smaller ship they are less effective, also larger ships have a larger range in travel so smaller ships cant travel as far unless on carrier or a supply ship supporting them. if ive forgotten to mention discussed today please pop it down
Also a lot of people want mouse control for the wepons systems.

TL:DR Shields bad.
They turn complex destruction system into dumb HP bar. So far nobody presented a shield idea that would be any better (and we had quite a few of them).

IMO good way to make large ship slightly more viable overall would be change to ship drag equation. Basically allow bigger ships to get to higher speed with the same thrust to mass ratio. So 4x bigger ship needs only 2x more thrusters to get to the same speed (but much slower acceleration).
It would also make that ship use 2x less propellant to travel the same distance at the same speed. So higher range. Reduction of tank capacity could go well together with that (now it's too effective to be a concern).

Also make drag equation more exponential, so high speed costs more. It's almost linear now, so there is no point going any slower than 150m/s. Not even noticeably higher fuel/prop usage at max speed compared to slow crawl.

I just thought of a I beam bender tool to bend the beams and then use the plasma cutter tool to shape the plates
