there will not be cameras but you can just have windows that can close and open like on one of the ships or a step further you could have alts on the outside of the ship
To make armoring your crew positions easier, the cutting tool could have a "Depth-Set Line Mode" that allows you to create a two-point 'drag-and-drop' line on a material like an armor plate and allows you to select a plate-depth for the cutting beam (set/altered with scrollwheel), where the beam will only cut to the given depth along the line and act normally otherwise (sloppy chop-shops beware). The Building Tool also has a "Width-Set Moulding Line Mode" that will add a one-plate thickness of material around the line out to a set width.

Alternately, you can just give the cutting tool a basic Line Mode that marks a cutting guide, for simple lines or chained together into complex geometric shapes, onto an object and we can improvise the rest by bolting small plates over firing slits or portals and cutting the line into them. These lines only appear while a building or cutting tool is equipped. There may or may not be a way to give these lines yolol functionality to help automated fabrication lines.

AFAIK cutting tool is not meant for permanent ship modifications. Grey "burned" voxels, jagged line and reduced durability suggest that at least. Better build windows out of various uncut plates.

Unless you go for more mad max style scavenger type of aesthetics. But then you don't need a ruler.

Yeah, it's a weird point of utility, do we just box-out firing ports with smaller plates and put a smaller ring around it for reinforcement? Or do we do the mad-max mod and putt the main and reinforce plate over top and cut a line in it? It's one of those things where I thought a context-sensitive tool mode might bridge the gap.
