Can the designator laser of torpedo go through glass?

I'm thinking of a manned turret with designation function for the torpedos and other turrets (like in the week-17 progress video "Prototype turret targeting"), then I encountered this problem. I'd like to have the turret covered by glass so its devices get protected while the gunner can see through.
If the guidance laser can't go through glass, then I'll have to cut an opening on the glass for it and make a gun mantlet to shield the opening. This is acceptable, but I still want to save the trouble.

or you know, have the glass move with the turret so that the laser designator can be mounted on the outside.
