More of a Question and less of a suggestion, Shadows and Light

I noticed in the alpha access we can't actually turn off shadows and light, we can't even turn it to a lower settings than medium. if you don't mind me asking why is it set this way? reason i ask, when EA comes out in a month, wouldn't it benefit players to adjust those settings to take the extra weight off their memory while were in these early stages? or do you have to have them on for reasons needing to be able to see what the game can do at the very least medium settings? i am just curious, thank you.

I could see pvp balance to be their reason. If I hide in the shadows, I expect other players not to see me. If shadows can be just turned off, it would encourage players to play with crappy looks to stay competitive.
