For my opinions, devs doing huge job, but they develop game not for them selves. It is not possible to fulfill all people's expectation from this game, so somebody will be disappointed and someone not. All these videos and progress notes looks very promising, but don't dream too much. Lets let devs to finish that they want and then we can make our decision.

Grabbing doesn't allow dropping objects on top of players anymore

This sounds like something that could have been fun. Maybe I am misinterpreting it but it sounds like grabbed objects won't be able to collide with other players when let go of.
