Update 10.12.2020 (Alpha 312)

New features and Major Updates
  • New ellipsoid safe zone around Origin
    • The safe zones changed from 350x200x80km box to a 1000x440x100km ellipsoid
  • Material costs halved for refined items and parts
  • Ship Transponders
    • Will only broadcast a signal when attached to a ship
    • Only one transponder will work per ship
    • Default broadcasting range is 100km, this can be adjusted from Settings
    • Can be turned on or off via the Unversal Tool or with YOLOL
    • Ship transponder signal will be visible to everyone
    • Can be implemented to ships in Ship Designer
    • Ship Transponders built through the Designer will save the ownership information when built and broadcast that information regardless of which ship the transponder attached to
  • Blueprint can now highlight unbuilt parts
    • Amount of parts shown can be adjusted in Station tab -> Blueprint Options
  • Owner of the ship is now always the host of the ship by default
  • First version of Resurrection Machine
    • Available from Ship Designer and Interior Designer
    • An item which lets players bind themselves to it and resurrects there if within its range (5 km)
    • Can resurrect 30 times
    • This version doesn't support adding more resurrections, but future versions will support item crates and loading of more resurrections
    • This version can't be picked up, but future versions are modular, so can be picked up

Other known Issues
  • The reduced material costs are not in effect when using the Building Tool: it will currently use the old costs
    • This will be patched in later
  • Adding ores to the trade window multiple times using the ore transfer feature, disables adding any more of that ore to trade and makes them disappear from the trade storage window visually
    • The ores are not lost and remain in Station Storage
  • Resurrection Machine
    • The ship owner's screen will momentarily be locked on to their ship if a ship is not hosted when another player respawns to it
    • Resurrection count is not syncing correctly for players unless they have used the machine to respawn or are the ship's host
Animations
  • Added 3rd person Pipe Tool reload animation
  • Added 1st person Cutting Tool reload animation
  • Added new standing carry animations for tools
    • Fixed small movement issues during walking
  • Updated 3rd person Bolt Tool reload animation to match new idle animation
  • Unified 3rd person landing animations
  • Modified 1st and 3rd person emote_rps animations
  • Fixed some fly animation states not activating correctly
Asteroid Belt
  • Adjusted ore distribution in safe zone to match the new safe zone shape
Assets
  • Updated textures of multiple skyscraper wall module LODs
  • Added interior structures to a skyscraper roof
Auction House
  • Excluded Transponder from tradeable items
Audio
  • Changed ship acceleration sound fadeout a bit
  • Added a delay before Fast Travel to allow for the SFX and VFX 'buildup' sequences
  • Fixed Ore Collector vacuuming sounds not playing
  • Added different collection sound for Mining Backpack and Ore Collector so that Ore Collector can be heard from longer distance
  • Added new Mining Laser and Cutting Tool sounds
  • Replaced the normal exploration music with planet ambience on moons
  • Configured landing sound volume to depend on length of midair state
    • Endo landing sounds do not play anymore when walking on uneven surface
  • Added new hinge and other joint movement sounds
    • Configured different sound for rotation and linear movement
    • Removed start and stop sounds from freely rotating joints
  • Removed City and Planet music volume options from Settings
    • City and Planet music are now included in Station and Exploration music settings

Economy
  • Added Station Foundation Parts terminal to Station and Factory shop
  • Halved amount of ore required to make refined material of same kind
  • Updated lamp crafting materials to fix their pricing
Effects
  • Fast Travel Gate
    • Added charge/buildup effects
    • Re-timed current effects to allow for the new Fast Travel buildup
  • Optimized VFX spawn rates and effect scaling over distance
    • Plasma Turret hit
    • Fuel Rod explosion and afterburn
    • Propellant Tank explosion and afterburn
Gameplay
  • Grabbed objects on invalid releasing positions are now moved to a valid location if player logs out or exits the game
GUI
  • Added options for showing unbuilt blueprint parts through other objects to Station tab -> Blueprint Options
  • Updated ship despawn popup to use tutorial interface
Interior Designer
  • Changed default placement distance from 27 to 15
  • Fixed Asset Browser's category folders not remembering if they were open before Test Mode
  • Fixed picking up objects not working for objects that were placed in Interior Designer and built in-game
Jobs
  • Fixed being able to leech credits at Mining Job by standing in the collector shaft
Menu
  • Added Ship Transponder options to Settings -> Gameplay
  • Added an option for always becoming the host for your owned ships to Settings -> Gameplay -> Ships (enabled by default)
  • Company tab
    • Small fixes to Team pages
    • Implemented dropdown filters for Team members and ships
  • Edited text capitalization in several menus

  • Fixed ship LOD and derelict not fading smoothly to the full detailed model
Ship Designer
  • Added automatic thruster naming
    • Thruster names should now match the names used by the MFC automatically
    • Note! This was malfunctioning in the original patch, a hotfix build 314 was released to set this Off by default (toggle in Settings -> Spaceship Designers -> Selection)
  • Added Debug views and Virtual Mass in it to the toolbar
  • Modified Spaceship Modules Starter Kit (Colored)
    • Added a set of plates with decals

  • Fixed not seeing other players if player logged in while having wrong local date or time
  • Fixed item container related crash
  • Fixed servers trying to send too much data and added optimizations for large number of derelicts

We have entered a development phase where significant changes are coming in every major patch. These may have a big impact on your gameplay and we are sorry about the inconvenience and possible frustration! Through these updates, the game is starting to come together and pieces are falling into place. We hope that this is also visible to all our players and everybody who follows the game. Regardless we will continue to try and notify our Closed Alpha players of the biggest incoming changes the best we can.

SOLVED: Warning! MFC autonaming may rename your thrusters
We are getting reports that the MFC autonaming system is not working as intended, and will rename all thrusters. This happens automatically when you load a blueprint in the Ship Designer. It might be best not to load any blueprints unless you're willing to rename any thrusters manually. We are looking into this issue (too) and will provide the latest status updates in Discord on Friday (and here once we have a clearer idea/plan for a hotfix).

Edit: Hotfix has been posted, see below. Building progress may still disappear but doesn't look to be as serious as we feared.

Hotfix
  • Added a setting to toggle Ship Designer's automatic thruster naming on/off
    • Off by default, toggle in Settings -> Spaceship Designer -> Selection
