Update 21.1.2021 (Alpha 335)

New Features and Major Updates
  • Unarmed melee
  • Limited hosting based on internet connection quality and performance
  • Ship Vouchers for organizing major events faster and more reliably
Known Issues
  • Unarmed melee attacks are not animated to other players
  • Using Building Tool on objects hosted by another players has been prevented until proper multiplayer support
  • Launcher supports are missing icons and proper locales

  • Added "Durability compromised sound" volume slider to Settings -> Audio -> Advanced
  • Updated Fuel Rod explosion sound
  • Refactored mounted weapon projectile audio handling
Chat
  • Chat can be now opened with Enter while Universal Tool is active
  • Tweaked chat channel cycling
    • Binding tab to chat cycling now works, as long as the chat window is active
    • Cycling channels that are bound to a typing key (a-z) can be used only when typing is not active
  • Added bind for replying to whispers (default Backspace)
    • Chat commands: /reply, /r
Company
  • Company owner can now allow company members with appropriate rank to edit company features (Company -> Company Roster -> Ranks)

  • Rearranged Company menu navigation tree
  • Added daily limits and range for promoting and demoting members
Economy
  • Added Utility Tool Body 2 Mirror to Ship Weapon Shop

  • Fixed not being able to sell ships that have been repaired
  • Fixed Missile Fuel Modules not having fuel when bought from Marketplace
  • Removed unnecessary missile slider and Torpedo Transmitter from Ship Weapon Shop

    • Changed Torpedo Launcher Middle's primary material to Bastium
    • Fixed missing materials for Socket and Welding Tool
Fast Travel Gate
  • Fixed LOD collisions breaking after Fast Travel
  • Fixed the gate moving to incorrect position on clients after Fast Travel
  • Fixed the gate effects and the activation area shifting after Fast Travel
  • Fixed the gate visuals warping around during Fast Travel
  • Tweaked distortion FX to stop it "pulling apart" at entry point
Gameplay
  • Added unarmed melee
    • Performs a melee attack if nothing is equipped in hands
    • Default bind is Mouse Button 2
  • Fixed Rail Base Turntable disappearing when put into the station storage
  • Fixed releasing grab not always working if another object was under the cursor
  • Shooting moon surface with a rocket now causes an explosion (not yet synced to other players)
Input
  • Fixed multi-key Quickbar binds activating single-key binds when used
Interior Designer
  • Added Modular Ladders to Decorative -> Misc
  • Fixed objects that were added and bolted in Interior Designer becoming welded and static
  • Fixed chairs in Furniture category not being affected by layer locking and visibility
Lot Designer
  • Replaced the old ladders with new Modular Ladders in Hall and Hallway modules
  • Fixed collisions caused by Medium Hall 1's lower wide entrance
Menu
  • Fixed death menu buttons leaking input through them
  • Polished Bank Statement tab
    • Adjusted the height of the sorting panel background
    • Added dropdown filtering options to Show balance since -> Custom
Missiles and Torpedoes
  • Missiles and torpedoes don't explode if safety is on anymore
  • Adjusted Missile Thruster Module A's snap points for easier insertion to the launcher
Renderer
  • Fixed a crash due to improperly deleting a particle
Ships
  • Ship Vouchers
    • Vouchers are sent by admins
    • Vouchers are automatically used when buying a premade ship via terminal or a custom ship from Ship Designer
    • Blueprints need to be resaved for them to be valid for vouchers
  • Changed chair exiting logic to take in consideration space above the chair when exiting
  • Changed ship device bind menu default key from U to V
  • Fixed ship that is hosted by another player colliding with it's own LOD, causing severe framerate drops
  • Fixed clients on board warping constantly from host's perspective during Fast Travel
  • Fixed despawning a ship at specific timing causing the ship to not despawn and losing all collisions for a while
  • Fixed player position syncing at moving ship when multiple clients are present
  • Fixed the game freezing after colliding with another ship
  • Fixed non-group members being locked to ships that are hidden by instancing
Ship Designer
  • Missile and torpedo components are now ignored when checking ship integrity
  • Fixed layer visibility no longer working when toggling the orientation view on, if player toggled the orientation view and visited the test mode
  • Fixed torpedoes not containing fuel when a ship was bought from Ship Designer
  • Nearby player station LODs in the editor background now appear in correct positions
  • Added Curved Window 120x120x96 cm, Curved Window 144x96x144 cm and Curved Window 144x144x96 cm to Asset Browser -> Windows
  • Added Utility Tool Body 2 Mirror variant to Machinery -> Tools

    • Temporarily prevented using Building Tool on objects hosted by another players

    • Prevented placing explosives on grabbed objects
  • Universal Tool
    • Fixed being able to make changes to device fields so that the changes did not have any effect on the device itself
    • Fixed changes to device field values not being applied if the tab was switched and Universal Tool was closed
    • Fields can be now selected with a single click instead of 2 or 3
Transponders
  • Changed minimum received ship transponder signals from 1 to 0
Tutorial
  • Increased Mining Job tutorial asteroid amount to 8
Universe
  • Added hosting limitations based on internet connection quality and performance
    • Only affects players outside safe zones
    • Ship hosting is switched to another player if certain conditions are met

On the fence about that, can make the game unplayable for that person compared to a prior fun experience. Middle of space, pirate shows up, pirate with better connection steals host, and gg. I would still prefer a button to manually load in a nearby ship lod compared to this.

Afaik it's not "better takes over worse", but more "potato connection can't just lag-teleport all over the place"
So if your connection is "good enough", nobody will steal hosting your ship, even if they live in a basement under FB server room.
