Am I the only one who hoped, that AH would be universewide? I mean, there won't be enough players to sustain an AH for every station. On the other hand, going to the one AH in your "region" with all your items (as long as we get the item crates) would be pain. That would be too much to handle for single player. The only one benefiting from this, would by escort companies.

well if auction houses would be universe wide it could also be a way to teleport goods, we kinda get that abit in oriign but thats less of an issue, though I would hope it would kinda function like eve online where u can browse goods from other markets and buy from there, you just need to go and pick them up then from that stations storage.

It is easier to shrink a safe zone that was too large, than to grow one that was too small, having to delete established player stations in the process.
That works both ways (assuming the zone is big enough for SZ stations to be built within it's reach)
Yeah 50km seems pretty reasonable for what is going to be a popular single-station hub. Most c9/10 will likely be gone in a week or so if its as popular as I think it'll be.
I'm not concerned about safe zone mining. There's plenty of that in the starting safe zone anyway. I just want a place where I can spawn a ship and fly out of the safe zone in a short time. Especially in PTU, where combat testi
50KM seems great unless you are a griefer and not a pirate. Then it's annoying having to follow them to grief them.
The difference between pirate and a griefer is not how he/she finds you, but the motivation to take an hostile action against you.
The game is about player interaction, not about avoiding them.

So you want long distance trade to be gone from the game? And sell prices to be absolutely lowest across the universe, giving miners minimal payment for the hard work?

I'd be up for global goods browser, but the act of buying should require physical presence at the station where the goods are. Race to acquire the best price should be between the fastest ships. Not by who sits in front of a market screen the most.

You're right. I didn't think of miners. But we surelly need some kind of system for highlighting different kinds of stations. And the most well known trading station would naturaly become the most important region wise. In combination with the goods browser.

This might be a little more compliceted topic. Eve has a player-driven economy, just like Sb and it works there. But it is a very different game. On the other hand, what you suggest works in Elite, but Elite doesn't have player-driven economy, as far as I am concerned. It's more like player-manipulated economy. There is a big role player by NPCs (algorithm). I guess this should be tested first and at the end of the day, it's up to Fb to decide, what's best for the game.

I really like the idea of the new AH deep into the belt, it will make a nice hotspot to engage with players.

However, I think you guys should consider blocking people from being able to place moon bases under the wrap gate. As a lot of people crash on their first trip to the moon, there's an interesting graveyard of ships (can currently be seen on the live game) that is naturally created and moon base could really stop this from happening. Ships will fall and will get stuck floating in the air (ship cannot enter safezone). There's also the chance that the graveyard actually happens, but people will camp their safezone, jumping in and out, creating this weird pvp dynamic that is probably not very good for the game.

Just a thought, keep up the good work !

It would be nice to see all the station's markets on one board, but rather than having the stuff delivered immediately, you see what station the item is at. Could open some nice gameplay loops. From there, you can either go get the goods yourself (urgh! lol), pay another player to courier them to you or pay for an NPC to get them to you. I feel there would have to be a negative reason to not choose the latter NPC option, maybe it can take longer to get to you or cost a lot more, to encourage player to player courier/hauling.

They tried this in Dual Universe. AHs at different planets etc. It never worked. People just ended up flying back to the main planet to buy things. Meaning we spent a LOT of time AFK flying.

I really want to see space games address the AFK flying stuff. Like, I get it, we're in space, but these games are so far in the "past" with regards to science fiction vs where we at with movies and books. Nobody wants to fly for hours to get places.
nobody....NOBODY. It's a time waste and most ppl go afk.

They need two things here:
Universal AH's
Every ship needs FAST travel, as in 15 minutes is the LONGEST flight, or even less. Instant warp travel would be best. I'm 36 with a kid. Spending 10 minutes to fly to a gate and then 15 more minutes warping means I just played my time for the day. It's essentially gatekeeping the rest of the game for me. (yes this is a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point)

I'm around the same age, also have a kid, full-time job etc etc... and I'm not part of your 'NOBODY' category. Giving every ship the ability to fast travel will make pirating or random encounters a thing of the past. Also, I believe people that er interested in these kind of games are the ones that like to fly around (maybe not hours, but to some extend). The idea will be that eventually travel times will be lower when placing stations, having capital ships and bases.

As for the universal auction houses, I do agree that with the current playerbase I'm not sure local AH's will work, simply because there will not be enough input. That being said, I think there needs to be certain penalties or restrictions when getting something from an AH far far away, like @Gearz said.

it would be cool if you bought something via AH from far away, there was an option for someone to deliver the stuff. it would create content for those who like that kind of gameplay. Eve did this. although, with the current state, we dont have player made warp gates, so the travel is longer for them, I guess that would increase the chances of getting hit by a pirate, though flying with lukium plating would help stay stealth. eve did this, the more successful transport guys had stealth modules on their ship. but, their stealth was completely invisible. idk. it would be cool to have a mechanic that was balanced in game to be able to make transport guys a good way to make money. not sure how they would do it, but it would be cool.
