Also it seems like everyone that has a youtube channel that even discussed starbase ages ago was allowed in even though they said youtube channels wouldn't be priority like I don't really care about who gets priority but I think openness on the CA selection process would be nice
In one of the combat streams one of the devs said the meta in ca at the moment is small fast ships as there is no good armour but once thicker armour comes in you will see bigger ships
Sounds good except pirates could probably just follow the ship cos I mean its kinda unlikely the pilot or crew are gonna look behind them and if they go into a dense asteroid field the pirate could hide nearby before the miner(s) get off their ship and look around
very detailed but do you think such a large crew size for the destroyer is practical especially with the debate of fighters vs large ships and the laser target designator
I would say if whoever built/owns the station is not directly involved in piracy etc... themselves then people can't just attack the station so pirates and whatnot are probably safe to conduct business and if someone is waiting outside the station then they could take a different ship out or...
Also I could see destroyers revert to a smaller state similar to what they were originally made for which was Torpedo Boat Destroyers which was a small ship with a lot of medium guns. So it would be a lot of laser cannons or autocannons with a few heavy cannons to take on fighters and light...
Yeah well on ships bigger than fighters I think you would see a citadel around the engines, propellant tanks and bridge with lots of heavy internal armour to stop heavy damage to important areas while less important areas such as a hanger/cargo bay or would have less armour.
Also I think people seeing this topic in a very binary way and so myself included ignore the fact that frigate, destroyer and cruiser type ships could still carry fighters more likely heavy fighters that could provide reconnaissance and maybe carry small amounts of troops or naval personal. For...
