Idk if you want to hide guns inside your ship because you have to connect wires to them, so if you have them on a rail then if any part of the rail takes damage you no longer have a turret. Also, hidden turrets would make you a target for pirates, have a longer time to deploy, and take up space...

Only use wings for a function. if you plan on mounting weapons/thrusters on wings then you make it easier to shoot off, and if one engine gets shot off then you will start turning more than if it was centered.
