    Lurking in the Starbase forum

Welcome to the forums SecretOne. Found it weird this one slipped past me for a while too, it really deserves more attention than its getting. I also especially like how communicative the PR team is at FrozenByte.

    Advanced space life

as Combustible said, you can make these. In fact, someone already made snake (I think it was a dev on their free time), though I am struggling to find the link to the video. It was fully functional, ai and pvp. Technically possible with the game already, though in a text form right now (once...

Shipbuilding improvements - Miniturize view from FTD

Was just covering bases as to what I did know about for pipes/wires. Does this include in the editor or just as in terms of damage, because in combat damage was my knowledge. In code the system would save coordinates as if you never shrunk the model, but the renderer would display them as such...

One-time Use Blueprints: Propietary ship sales over long distance

Buying a license to manufacture one copy of a ship rather than the ship, enforced by 'encrypted' DRM. I like it. Shipwrights AFAIK currently dont have particularly great tools to sell their designs. I would imagine the person that imprinted the chips could re-imprint them to update them, or...

Shipbuilding improvements - Miniturize view from FTD

I am not aware of free-floating pipes or wires, and for two objects thats what allows this to work. I threw together a quick 2d diagram to help, where red is object 1, blue is object 2, green is pipe, and black is wire. The idea being that as I mentioned, my understanding is that the game saves...

Shipbuilding improvements - Miniturize view from FTD

As you mentioned, you place on other geomety. Their coordinates are relative to other things, so they place at say, x3y2z7 on the block, and when unshrunk, those coordinates remain. The pipes AFAIK are saved as a point to point, with tiny segments to be breakable between them.

    My fellow pioneers.

Welcome to the forums Tim. I think a lot of us, at least the people I know here, found it by having an interest in SE, but never really being satisfied with its simplicity and its shortcomings with multiplayer or a real goal.

    Yello!

Welcome to the forums Zylo. Currently controls can be keybound and used as long as you are near the lever/button, or by 'physically' interacting with the controls. VR in cockpit would be very cool indeed.

A composition scanner as a ship module

Assuming you could store all the data decently, a system like this would enable you to use receivers to get coordinates and attitude, a rangefinder to get range to asteroid, and a scanner to scan said asteroid.. Automatically filing that asteroids location and composition away in a database, and...

Shipbuilding improvements - Miniturize view from FTD

I think adding a keybind to the editor (and only editor) to allow a 'blown up'/'miniturized' view would be very useful for placement of cables, wires, or just getting your bearings of where the explosive bits of your ship are through that pannel next to your cockpit. The system from From the...

    VoIP do we need it?

I want to drive home the point that if the system in place is decent, this is not an issue at all. My understanding is that for friend based communication FrozenByte intends you use your own communications.[citation needed] Personally, as someone with an extremely aggressive playstyle in Escape...
