Would it be possible to have a platform on rails that can disconnect from a power cable and reconnect with another cable at a different location?

Rails themselves transfer power and signal to carts. So no need for any cable connectors in that example.

I am imagining someone doing something like the massive ship with circular jaws that just munches down on ships.
Moving sections and parts will definitely harbour some really cool ideas.
Lets hope that there are such mechanics.
