This is a thread based on new wepon ideas want to discuss a pistol or rifle go on ahead and talk about it say if its fir ships or players and if it has alternate magazines

Here is one its a auto shotgun it would hold 12 rounds with and a extend mag with 14 rounds it would be a 9 gauge shotgun with a 2 round per second fire rate its mag is a drum its dps would be about 10 damage per slug its ads spead would be about .5 seconds reload speed would be 2 seconds if placed correctly it can shoot of limbs plus it would make a hole in walls about as big as your torso for easy placement of the slugs can put a picture it is mostly the same as a shotgun but has a stick out handle

Personally I think the amount of infantry weapons we have to this day in Starbase is good and I dont have any ideas for any new ones but I think yours could really have a niche (just look how many infantry weapons there already are. Link: https://wiki.starbasegame.com/index.php/Weapons)
For mounted weaponry I already have a thread where people can talk about that (Link: https://forum.starbasegame.com/thre...aponry-would-you-like-to-see.1262/#post-10843 ) but I will add my ideas here: I would like to see 2 kinds of mounted weaponry: 1. A rotary cannon/gatling gun like the GAU-8 Avenger. Since you brought up the discussion: I would think that this kind of gun would work well with either AP (Armour Piercing) or HE (High Explosive [explodes on contact with surface]). 2. Idea would be some sort of a cannon like found on battleships or even tank cannons where you could go with all sorts of different ammunition (If you have played games like WarThunder you know what kind of variety exists).
PS: Both weapons would have to be place on a large weapon mount, since having 2 gatling guns with the power to kill thousands of infantry men is kind of dumb and overpowered

GAU-8 is a bit big, and would serve the same purpose as twin AC (same caliber ~30mm). So doesn't really bring anything new, except visuals.

But smaller caliber (rotary or not) ship mounted HMG would be very useful for anti-infantry combat, as well as against completely unarmoured fighters.

I like the ideas but a few notes and like ads speed rounds per second and reload speed i know its a forum and you dont have to put this stuff but its i feel that little details that make a difference but dont make it one sided like it fires a whole mag in 2 seconds make it fair thanks

Do 2 autocannons have a combined fire rate (both weapons perfectly timed together) of 2100 min rmp up to 4200 max rpm with a standard rpm of 3900? If so do not mind what I said. If not: I wanna have my BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTT

I would like some sort of harpoon with a cable, Imagine shooting a harpoon at an enemy ship tethering it to the shooter. There could be 2 different versions; one handheld that could help with boarding enemy ships and a ship/station mounted version that can stop a ship dead in its track.

Im sure someone else has already said this but the handheld weapons should have different ammo types, this could be as simple as having Armor Percing, Hollow point, Explosive, Sub-sonic, Shotgun Slug, etc. OR they could go the Tarkov route and have like 200 different types of ammo that all of them have their own uses. I think the simple system might be a bit better to avoid new players being overwhelmed and being easier to implement.
The different ammo types can have diffrent damage, for example the explosive can have higher damage against sensitive components like reactors while being very weak towards armor.

I'm pretty sure this is already confirmed for handguns closer to release. There's definitely a lot of room for specialised ammo in the game and it's going to be interesting to see how that would shape pvp at a personal scale.

i think a flack cannon is needed for close range ship combat and Rocket /torpedo defense using the shot gun as a base model for the damage range and spread but ramp it by 10 or so

What about a gun that is really expensive that is basically just a giant laser that kills people almost instantly and also can cut through things rlly fast or something, idk.

you mean something like the atlas laser mod from space engineers. it would need a huge charge time and/or massive energy requirements but for a siege weapon it might be interesting. I could see a massive ship that is just thrusters and a huge laser surrounded by small fighters to defend it

I was thinking more of a melee weapon but I like your idea anyway (y)
