    You could have a radio transmitter that says what side you are on and a receiver that points forward so that when you point at a friendly it will say on a display in your ship that they are friendly.

    There was a video in one of the progress notes where one ship was being held in front of the other with a tractor beam as a turret. However, I could imagine having cargo lock beams attached to a small ship at the end of the tractor beam to grab onto other ships like a tentacle, kind of thing.

    I have little doubt that the mining laser will do damage to ships, just as the pickaxe can also do damage to ships. I don't know how effective it will be, but it will definitely be worth testing out once we can.

    That cost (money and/or time) should also be high enough that repair shops are still viable options for players to open. There was also a mention of refueling at stations in the stations video. I don't know if that is at some sort of pump, or when storing your ship.

    That is one problem with some of the more complex programs that take many chips, "physical" space. You don't want half your ship taken up by YOLOL chips, it would not leave room for stuff to act on the envionment, engines, generators, weapons, etc..
