Agreeing on no 3rd person and no turntable thrusters being a problem.
There will be FTL in CA.
If we don't have shields, auto repair is needed. I don't want to manually fill every small hole on my armor after a fight with an autogun opponent.
Ramming sounds like a fun combat style to play. Will there be rams that deal extra ramming damage and/or receive less ramming damage?
I would also want some ship melee weapons like saws and drills. If that sound too crude than maybe a plasma cutter?
Also grapeshot cannons could be fun to have...
I mean botted miners and player controlled miners are not very different when it comes to capability. Bots might actually have the advantage for knowing that someone is coming by looking at memory data. If there is no place for bots to mine and profit, there is likely no place for humans to mine...
Yeah that problem is hard.
In matchmaking games, it's just the mach, but in a MMO, damage is done to other players even after banning the cheater.
I can see people loosing their account and money but not care because they pleased their real life boss while cheating.
Yes, writing a script will be difficult, but we are not talking about regular players, instead the real threat comes from "workshops" or "studios" who do this for a living. They will then sell the script to players or/and
A gray IRL money market exists almost in any game with in-game item...
Hate to break it but reflective surfaces are a HUUUUUGE burden on your graphics. Basically whatever is reflected you have to render as if they were another object. Adding a piece of shiny armor could mean doubling the graphic calculations. Covering the ship with reflective surfaces will break...
Starbase reactors, fuel tanks and magazines explode. The ships won't be taking many hits.
On the other hand, it would not be fair if even the biggest and most armored ships to be one-shot by anyone with a lucky cockpit hit.
I hope they can't make a big impact on the game.
Honestly, there is not much FB can do than just hope those "workshops" won't bother with Starbase, either because the game is too complicated, or because the profit is to little.
Maybe making ships much more expensive will solve this problem...
I think that you can carry a entire missile in your backpack or hand. Boarding and then detonating a enemy ship kamikaze style will be very fun.(and also a bit OP)
I agree on bots being very stupid and not being able to compete with players. However, people are doing this for a living and they had tons of experience destroying other games while getting profit out of it, we should not underestimate them.
Instead of needing a new machine, those workshop...
Sounds effective
Not many people will pay attention when not expecting combat.
Even if they did, there is no way to mine-sweep without damaging your ship.
It gets even worse (or better?)
If you are 1 km out the area stops being loaded in the server and time freezes.
Which means that your mines will just stay there forever.
Until some unlucky ship came and activated them.
I'm not talking about in-game AI. I am talking about external scripts. There are people doing this for a living in organized "workshops", and they have hundreds of script controlled accounts mining in-game resources, and selling the resources they mined to players who found their in-game...
