Oh don't get me wrong I do know there are small groups and solo players thats totally fine, I just mean there are a select few who will end up advocating for the limitation of larger groups.
They could be super useful during travel too, just in case you fly through a ship graveyard or a small collection of shattered asteroids and don't feel like having bits of rocks in your weapons systems.
I'd imagine there will be that small crowd who hates large groups and want small groups to have just as much power as the large groups in a sandbox mmo.
I say that because I've noticed a few around, they just aren't very vocal about it yet.
I feel like with the capture point system that the devs have stated will always favour the larger forces who will have the manpower needed to put on a multi day siege. Hit and run tactics on a station may disrupt daily operations temporarily but would never be enough to secure it entirely.
I'm starting to think of the other indirect effects stations may take. A siege on an important station or possibly along an important trade route may disrupt an entire regional economy, causing problems for other factions who had nothing to do with the conflict.
As long as there are things to do in the station then you'd be fine, I'm assuming it'll resort to roleplay for many players. But with a large enough playerbase I'd imagine stations would be fairly active so things would be happening all the time; it just may not be an invasion force knocking on...
Only issue is getting a playerbase large enough to sustain these active defenses in stations otherwise we'll end up with a rust offline raiding situation.
Would definitely be interesting to try and hide weapons such as putting blast covers and blast doors over missile tubes while they reload to prevent battle damage, or if we ever get spinal railguns I'd imagine hiding those during reload would be optimal.
The fact that you guys are finding a nice way to integrate safe zones into an ever changing political environment is pretty cool, I love how they act sort of like capture points.
