Starbase - 15 Minutes of Uncut Combat discussion thread

Asked about this specifically. Nope. TTK feels short. Obviously, dev ships are not optimal. Even so.

PSA: Player-Created Stations coming AFTER (EA) Launch.

It's been stated in the wiki, on these forums, and multiple times on the discord, but the implementation of players creating their own stations for their factions is PLANNED, but will not be out for the initial early access launch. It's one of their top features to implement after launch, tho...

Starbase - 15 Minutes of Uncut Combat discussion thread

A few personal takeaways, some praises, some concerns - The base/default spatha fighter ship is real bad. Inability to see downward relative to the cockpit was crippling in the fight. Seeing the cockpit hatch blow off was epic as hell. Having to fight slightly clippled due to lack of...

    Piracy and Thievery

A potential for abuse does not mean that abuse is guaranteed. Also, this is not particularly different than if it were NPC led, as the devs control the NPCs. And this isnt different than the potential abuse that any devs actively playing the game would pose anyway. Ultimately, the potential...

    Piracy and Thievery

Not at all. Empire and Kingdom are already heavily tied to game lore, marketing, social media engagement, and most importantly, they are not NPCs. They will be led and organized by humans. Empire will be led by the CEO and Kingdom by another one of the higher-ups. Could they end up not...

    Piracy and Thievery

Look at EVE/Rust/Ark. I agree that new player experience needs to be decent. Starbase addresses that, heavily. Theres a 3 hour radius fully safe zone around starter areas, and the 2 main dev factions have a natural, game-guided place for solos. There will be missions to expand Empire and Kindom...

    A free station

Is it possible? Sure. Is it realistic? Not at all. The way that someone would realistically achieve this would be with overwhelming force. This would serve as a massive beacon for anyone that wants a fight, so you'd need an incredibly strong and experienced fleet to defend and enforce things...

    Steam price release suggestion...

30-40 bucks seems right to me, but I'd pay 60 easily.

    Piracy and Thievery

This is incorrect. Stations are not required to build ships. They will make it faster and easier with the use of blueprint system once that's implemented, but you do not need a station at all. They will provide offline protection benefits and such, but won't be a hard requirement like Atlas.

    Piracy and Thievery

Except history completely disproves you. CSTG was raided in their home town constantly. We were one of the ones doing it. Several times we snuck in, raided massive resource stores, and either destroyed or stole hundred upon hundreds of man-hours worth of resources. We raided ships, main bases...

    Piracy and Thievery

Classic example of a post from someone that has never actually been aggressive or even tried putting themselves into the mindset of someone aggressive in an open PvP game. Let's break this down for the class. How exactly do I know they are a noob? Just because you disrespect and...

    Piracy and Thievery

1: It does not shut down anyone's ability to play the game 2: PvP for the sake of enjoyment of PvP itself is a reason beyond simply to cause grief, and falls under "because we can" 3: In the vast majority of cases, the "because we can" fight reasoning is a shortening of "because we have the...

    Piracy and Thievery

No. It's not. Griefing is shutting someone out of the ability to play the game for no other reason than to cause the other player grief. If you kill someone to take their stuff, or to defend your territory, or because youre trying to prevent them from taking finite resource in the area, that is...

    POLL: Respect Neutrality

Unless i have some sort of strong incentive/reason not to, I would kill them and salvage their wreck. This goes for virtually everyone. With cardinal guild (i know them), whether or not I'd kill them would depend heavily upon if i considered them to be more valuable to me alive and doing...

What kinds of ships are you going to be building?

There's so much wrong with this that it's hard to quantify. But I'll make an attempt. Those games haven't failed. There's nothing to fail. This statement is the exact equivalent to "many games have failed to address the issue of the speed of light being too slow". There's no addressing or...

Dev Question - What, Exactly, does "Safe Zone" Mean?

Exactly. My suggestion to help alleviate these issues is to implement some sort of shield-ripple shimmer effect when shooting things in the starter safe zone. Something to indicate that damage is not getting thru, and that things are prevented. It will also let less informed newbs know that THEY...

Incorporating an in-game Ship design element into the real-time MMO, and abolishing a separate Creative mode

Well yeah, that's kinda what happens when you avoid actually attempting to address or counter any of the opposing points and keep responding with what amounts to "nuh-uh, you're wrong".

Incorporating an in-game Ship design element into the real-time MMO, and abolishing a separate Creative mode

Before anyone says "no one would be forcing anyone to use the sandbox" - Yes, yes it would. In any game involving any type of competition, there is a phenomenon where, when a "best method" of doing something exists and is significantly better than other methods, those that play for that...

Dev Question - What, Exactly, does "Safe Zone" Mean?

And what happens when you try? Does the gun not shoot at all, or does it shoot, hit the guy, and nothing happens? I ask, because either of these common methods has their issues impacting new-player experience.
