Right now the developers haven't given up on a by end of 2020 Early Access (Can buy the game). I don't think it will be that soon as the pace has not been quick enough and I think the devs want to do the job right the first time on most game mechanics.

There are plenty of materials to fill different rolls now. As for the cost, you could probably try to buy light materials from a station where they are abundant to get the cheapest prices. Any material could be cheap if you can source it propperly... or steal it.
I really enjoy this part of the development. I love Mondays coming around and getting surprised every time with all the amazing things you all have been cooking up!
