    Away with thruster walls.

Price is the worst way to balance things in creative games. Give it solid drawbacks, to make sure using them is deliberate choice, and not brainless must have. Preferably exponential I.e. 5x thrust and 25x resource consumption

Nuanced Thruster System Through Simpler Mechanics (All Ships Can Go Max Speed)

Because people who make games for a living are not omniscient superhuman beings, and can get new, good ideas from players. That's the entire purpose of "Game suggestions" section. Centurio wouldn't "go around like a fighter". It would go in straight line like a fighter, but would took 10 times...

Weapon and Armor Effectiveness Reference Sheet

Also it doesn't take the plate volume into account. Those are all 196x196 plates. A good average to use, but definitely not representative for other plate sizes.

Nuanced Thruster System Through Simpler Mechanics (All Ships Can Go Max Speed)

Math is the best language for describing stuff like that. "All ships can travel 150m/s" means that megahauler with a single manoeuvring thruster can go max speed if it either spend a lot of time accelerating or use short time boosters (then continue for almost free). Pseudo code for that would...

Nuanced Thruster System Through Simpler Mechanics (All Ships Can Go Max Speed)

I'm against the idea. Here's why: 1. It takes top speed out of design choice, as it's constant for all ships. While current strongly encourage going top speed, it still allows room for not doing so. So it limits creativity. 2. Current thrusters already impart force, not speed. Top speed is...

    Away with thruster walls.

Some min-maxers will still go for max speed. But many will also consider if it's really worth it, if it means sacrificing firepower, armour or agility. Some meta fighters already fly slower than max (i.e. Empire's Typhon). ATM reaching max is so cheap that it's pretty much required. Speedcap...

    Away with thruster walls.

Not necessarily all will fly 150. If speed requires exponential amount of thrust, top speed could be just unreachable number. If people are forced to find their sweet spot, ships will be more unique. I.e. balance drag to make only ship that contains only thrusters and necessary equipment to...

    mods and workshop creations

Audio mod that makes footsteps 10x louder? 10m long hand weapons? Or visual mod that make ships and endos bright pink? Visual/audio modding of pvp games doesn't end well.

    Away with thruster walls.

Don't bring fast travel into this topic. Long medium thrusters are needed for situations when you can't use warp (i.e. combat), your ship is too big for triangle/box and too small for plasma. Also warp won't shorten travel times. It'll just spread playerbase further apart. I agree that some...

    YOLOL Virus/Corruption Game Play

I prefer player-made solutions rather than ready-made device. Just bring your own yolol chip + reader, bolt it to enemy ship and cable to the network. Profit. And requires just as much effort from attacker and defender.

    Drones

Drones are technically possible, but. 1. Someone needs to host them, so player needs to be nearby anyway. And it's limited how many ships you can host at once. 2. There are very few sensors, so drones are almost blind. 3. Yolol is slow, so they are terrible at shooting moving targets. 4. The...

Are frigate, destroyer, cruiser, etc. useful in-game?

Ik. I'm following Duratech releases. You missed the joke :p

    Mining outside the safe zone

Your worst enemies when mining outside the safe zone are the asteroids. Lurking in the shadows, waiting for the moment when you take your hand of the keyboard to grab some snack/drink, then jumping in front of your ship. Remember to bring tools: bolt, pipe, cable, durability, weld. All with...

You mean Vasama with 2 seats? :ROFLMAO:

Are frigate, destroyer, cruiser, etc. useful in-game?

Let's start with the fact that you can't build capital ships right now, due to voxel volume limits. Corvette is a around the limits. But even if we could, there's a lot of features and balance changes needed to make them useful in direct combat. On a side note: capitol is a building in which...

    Update 25.3.2021 (Alpha 396)

Tons of nice new toys, so this one might have been overlooked. Gamechanger for convoys and outpost assault :D

    Invisible bolsts

I like bolts. Would be nice to have them paintable, or at least they should take the colour of the plate they hold. You can still get the smooth looks by bolting from underneath. Would be nice if autobolt had such settings

    Solution to Adding Mouse Controls

Alternative solution: give each lever keybind for grabbing it. When you press it, it's like clicking your mouse on the lever. Difference is you can grab multiple levers by binding them to the same button. Although I still prefer just chair outputing pilot view angle yaw and pitch.

    Small-Scale Base Building

Hiding the base will get significantly harder once radiation detection comes into play. Any bigger activity and you'll shine like a beacon. With large stations you can at least attempt to defend, rather than them vanishing overnight. Station only features can be divided into 3 categories for...

    Mechs

Depends on how well you'd be able to translate vr movement into joint angles. If VR outputs points in space and game can somehow read that, it's just matter of inverse kinematics to move robot body part there. Theoretically doable, but for sure won't be competitive combat capable.
