Radar, ECM, and ECCM transmitter/receiver mechanics

I'm all for some sort of detection. Getting attacked without knowing danger is anywhere near is just as annoying as being on guard duty and starring into the endless space for hours. On the other hand I don't want the game to go the route of mandatory AI aimbot everywhere, like SE, EgS or FtD...

Making larger ships more interesting with modules too large for smaller ship?

Such modules could be: 1. Spare body storage. 2. Make generators get more efficient the bigger they are. 3. Very long thrusters. So internal volume is more of limitation than rear surface. And game balance: make armour matter. A lot. Like make it like 30x more durable per weight than functional...

What kinds of ships are you going to be building?

Wrong. Such solution would only slightly soften the problem. First, because it's optional, so will be ignored by battle shoebox lovers. Second, because even if you slap some things, in the end it's still a shoebox, just decorated. The solution is to implement and balance features that favour...

    Ship module: hand.

Purpose: holding every hand tool and weapon in game. And using all of them (except pickaxe) Yolol fields: -hold (0 to drop held object, 1 to keep or pick up whatever is in front) -lock (1 prevent player from detaching tool with single click, 0 makes for excellent easy to access tool hangers)...

Respawn, teleport, disconnect and death consequences.

The idea have been mostly rewritten after all the feedback I got. Respawn is available at starting starting stations. Pretty much certain, unlimited and cheap. So we'll not discuss that much. Respawn on ships and player station however is confirmed, but no exact mechanics have been announced...

Dev Question - What, Exactly, does "Safe Zone" Mean?

    1. I use civilian ship as mobile shield. As it's protected by safe zone, I can just park it right in front of military vessel. Or even make it big enough that whole military ship is inside, with only guns pointing out. And it can be built out of cardboard and still stop railguns. 2. Civilian...

Owning more than 1 whole block?

According to devs, amount of rental lots will rise to make sure everyone can rent one. So if you rent them with sole purpose of blocking others from doing so, you just throw upkeep money away.

    Station Events for EA

And some special case of removing collision damage protection from racers. We all want to see them blow up if they don't slow down before that tight turn...

Dev Question - What, Exactly, does "Safe Zone" Mean?

Here's quote from Lauri. If you're at war with station owner, you can declare a ship as military. So it boils down to what you consider military. You can keep frigate full of weapons as civilian. Such system has so many loopholes that it's hard to choose which one to abuse.

Incorporating an in-game Ship design element into the real-time MMO, and abolishing a separate Creative mode

To be honest, I'd probably play WoW if it had no leveling (grinding) at all. Just for the fun part (i.e. raids). Comparing ship design to raid is pointless as well. No matter how complex ship is, designing it can be done by single person. And it will most likely take less work hours when done...

Dev Question - What, Exactly, does "Safe Zone" Mean?

None. Both can ram and block shoots.

Incorporating an in-game Ship design element into the real-time MMO, and abolishing a separate Creative mode

First things first: "build" and "design" are two completely non-interchangeable words. Of course you could do everything in main world, just less efficient. Other than that you're mostly correct. Ship designing and testing would be done in mostly streamlined sandbox. As in every single game...

Dev Question - What, Exactly, does "Safe Zone" Mean?

All damage is turned off seems like best solution. After all ramming with ship doesn't require any weapons. Letting players shoot seems like good idea, as you may want to test weapon systems or just practice shooting. Rental plots should also allow building safe zone removal generators. If you...

    Factories?

I hope for at least blueprint chips. Even if they are simple list of numbers that can be plugged into Yolol script. Something like data storage chip, but with each line containing all the information about part type and placement. Ordered automatically either from middle or bottom left forward...

Incorporating an in-game Ship design element into the real-time MMO, and abolishing a separate Creative mode

Nope. Just MMO. And that's very broad term. Not adding ship editor is quite recent idea, still under consideration. And there is plenty of semi-instanced places, like rented lots, asteroid delivery stations, ect. Not to mention that you can't interact with someone who's inside rented lot inside...

Dear Frozen, When the Time comes for Cosmetics do us one favor?

What do you thing of cosmetics being physical items in the world. Something you can loose when you die, sell, buy or steal from dead enemies. But also buy with real monies if you want to support devs. Or earn by participating in special game events (winning an tournament, achieving big success...

Incorporating an in-game Ship design element into the real-time MMO, and abolishing a separate Creative mode

Crossout is being marketed as mmo. That defines nothing other than massive amount of players interacting with each other.

    Social Tools

How do you access that CV? By looking at someone or by browsing (if you know the name)? If the later, is there other way to tell enemy from ally in hectic gunfight? In real life you'd recognize all 100 members of your company by face.

    Social Tools

That's definitely interesting approach. And slightly hardcore. So no identification at all, unless they decide to identify themselves? I'd still go with "face recognition", as it more resembles real world human interaction (you can change clothes, but swapping face is slightly more...

Battering ram and the art of tactically raming your ship into the opponents !

Assuming that they change the bouncy nature of collision (right now it cancels all the momentum) Then it's matter of aiming at weak spots and being more agile. Ramming ship, even small, can concentrate all the armour in front. Rammed ship can't, because it need armour everywhere.
